Thanh Hoa player creates 'explosive' 11,000th goal milestone in V-League

The V-League hits the 11,000-goal milestone after more than twenty years, with the decisive goal scored during the thrilling encounter between Thanh Hoa and Hai Phong in round 14 of the 2025/2026 campaign.

Round 14 of the V-League 2025/2026 witnessed a special landmark for Vietnamese football as the league surpassed 11,000 goals after over two decades of existence. That historic moment belonged to striker Nguyen Van Tung of Thanh Hoa FC, who made his mark with a crucial goal at Lach Tray Stadium in the clash against Hai Phong FC.

The Vietnamese National Championship officially adopted the name V-League starting from the 2000/2001 season, ushering in an era of domestic professional football. After 26 years of development, the league has not only enhanced its professional quality but also created many memorable milestones. Nguyen Van Tung's goal thus carries symbolic significance, marking the long journey of Vietnam's top football competition.

In the 73rd minute of the match, Nguyen Van Tung made an intelligent run to meet a teammate's pass before delivering a dangerous header, leaving goalkeeper Dinh Trieu with no time to react. This was not only his second personal goal of the match but also officially became the 11,000th goal in V-League history since the league entered its professional era.

Notably, this historic goal occurred in a match full of emotion. Earlier, Hai Phong FC had taken the lead thanks to a goal from Tagueu early in the second half. Thanh Hoa quickly responded with an equalizer from Van Tung himself, but the home team then scored two more goals to establish a safe 3-1 lead.
