Harrison Bader’s first home run with the Giants leaves a mark: a dent on a food truck outside the stadium

Harrison Bader has truly left his mark on the San Francisco Giants.

If you’re skeptical, just talk to Monica Godfrey, who runs the “Cactus Bowl” food truck offering acai bowls outside the Phoenix family ballpark.

During today’s game where the Giants lost 13-12 to the Milwaukee Brewers, in the top of the fourth inning, Godfrey was delivering food to customers when suddenly Bader blasted a three-RBI homer at an initial speed of 113.8 mph, which struck the roof of her food truck parked near left field, leaving a dent.

“Suddenly I heard a ‘ah’ sound, and I knew the ball was coming this way because everyone was ducking,” Godfrey said. “I looked up and bam!”

This 408-foot home run was Bader’s first since signing a two-year, $20.5 million contract with the Giants last month. The hit was so powerful that the baseball’s stitching marks were visible on the dent left on the front of the food truck trailer.

“It’s pretty impressive, no joke,” Bader said when watching the video of his blast.

“That was a nuke,” said first baseman Bryce Eldridge, who went 1-for-2 in the game and also hit his first spring training homer.

Godfrey said she originally placed her food truck in a different spot at the ballpark but was asked to move it to left field for the first time today. As a devoted baseball fan, she knew she’d become a target for homers heading that way.

“This is prime real estate, you know?” Godfrey said. “But it’s okay, now I have a permanent mark left by the Giants here.”

“It’s just a funny coincidence, but definitely a good story,” Bader said.

The story got even better: Bader personally visited the “Cactus Bowl” food truck to meet Godfrey and signed the dent.

“Sorry about that,” he wrote under his autograph.
